Job Description

Job Purpose

To maintain a secure and reliable Information System environment in a manner that maximises the productivity and effectiveness of our employees and enhances communication.


Key Result Areas

  • Conduct network troubleshooting to segregate and identify general network problems.
  • Manage daily back ups
  • Monitor network and internet to ensure optimal performance (switches/firewall)
  • Maintenance and troubleshooting of all hardware and software issues
  • Create and maintain network users and permissions
  • Office 365 e-mail setup for users
  • Create technical support documentation for systems and applications


Key responsibilities

  • Work with suppliers to improve IT infrastructure
  • Deploy new software and upgrade existing software
  • Server management (DNS/DHCP/AD Services)
  • Ensure tickets are dealt with and closed in accordance with standard operating procedures
  • Set up of all IT requirements for all new users
  • Replace computer/IT equipment in accordance with life cycle
  • Train users as and when needed
  • Conduct schedule maintenance
  • Where able to, do minor repairs on equipment
  • Obtain quotations for IT equipment and raise PO for approval
  • Maintain asset register
  • Adhere to IT policies and procedures
  • Carry out all duties/tasks delegated by the IT manager
  • Assist IT manager with implementation of projects.

Key Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • IT qualification or equivalent
  • Three years retail IT experience;
  • Good knowledge of internal audit requirements and data management principles
  • Broad knowledge of IT disciplines
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft products
  • Advanced knowledge of business internal controls and systems
  • Good knowledge of corporate governance principles and policies
  • Good knowledge of data warehouses and business intelligence systems
  • Good understanding of IT project management
  • Advanced analytical/trouble-shooting skills
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Office, Business Intelligence Software, Company Specific Information Systems e.g. Towa, SA Cash)
  • Advanced database skills (MS Access, SQL)
  • Advanced problem-solving skills
